JOB BRIEF
The Regional Facilitation Specialist will work and support the SNAP Latin America facilitators (in Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Venezuela), and will provide facilitation, programmatic and operational support for USIP’s Synergizing Nonviolent Action and Peacebuilding Program (SNAP). In coordination with the Senior Program Officer, the Regional Facilitation Specialist will support the daily technical and operational implementation of the SNAP project and will support communication between and among country and regional cohorts and support and carry out in-country and regional activities.
The Regional Facilitation Specialist will report to the Gandhi-King Senior Program Officer.
This is a full-time, term contract position through September 30, 2023, based in Latin America. The contract can be renewed pending performance, funding, and business needs. This is a Personal Services Contractor position for a host-country national in Latin America.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Supports the SNAP Latin America team with the coordination of virtual, in-person, and hybrid workshops in Latin America.
* Works with SNAP facilitators by scheduling and preparing one-on-one mentoring sessions and ensuring regular, ongoing communication.
* Provides virtual and in-person coaching and guidance to SNAP facilitators through feedback, reflection, and debrief sessions before, during, and after SNAP workshops.
* Strengthens the SNAP resource toolbox for facilitators by reviewing and developing contextualized facilitator aids and creating continuous feedback loop.
* Engages with the network via Signal (or their preferred communication channel) to assess their situation and learning needs and how to respond to different challenges, such as adapting a workshop to a hybrid modality, among others.
* Facilitates and encourages the SNAP LA regional network to engage and participate in learning opportunities and refresher sessions based on facilitator and project needs.
* Initiates inter-regional connections between facilitators and facilitate broader network connections.
* Collaborates with the SNAP Latin America team to ensure coaching, mentoring, and project management efforts in each country collectively reinforce one another at a regional level.
* Attends SNAP workshops, as needed.
* Works with the Nonviolent Action Senior Program Specialist and the Gandhi-King Global Academy Senior Program Officer to compile quarterly written and budget reports for external partners, regarding facilitation efforts at a regional level.
* Serves as the main point of contact for communications and liaising with the SNAP Latin America cohort and USIP HQ team regarding facilitation at a regional level.
* Attends training of trainers, regional meetings, cohort meetings, and regular check-ins with the SNAP Latin America and Nonviolent Action teams, team retreats, among others.
* Provides feedback on the SNAP curriculum, as needed.
Workshop Development and Planning:
* Drafts templates for standardized agendas for SNAP workshops in Latin America.
* Reviews agendas prepared by SNAP Latin America facilitators to ensure that the methodology is adapted to each country’s context.
* Develops promotional and informative descriptions of events regarding facilitation in the SNAP Latin America context for internal USIP staff members and external audiences.
* Ensures that all materials and resources are kept up to date for all SNAP workshops in Latin America.
* Maintains active communication channels with facilitators.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in international affairs, political science, or other related field.
* Between 3-4 years of experience related to program administration and facilitation related to peacebuilding, security, or development projects in Latin America; regional experience strongly preferred;
* Excellent writing skills.
* Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Experience facilitating training content on related topics.
* Experience organizing workshops, events, and meetings and arranging logistical arrangements.
* Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships and strong interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural communication.
* Must have ability to communicate in English and in Spanish.
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, MS Outlook, and MS Excel. Previous experience database usage is preferred.
