JOB BRIEF
Based in Erbil-Iraq, and under the direct supervision of USIP’s Iraq Country Manager. The Reporting Assistant will provide support to USIP’s Iraq projects on two main areas: reporting, and new projects development. S/he will be responsible for drafting and reviewing all Iraq projects related reports and contribute to the drafting of new concept notes.
This is a Personal Services Contractor position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- In coordination with Program Teams, compose first draft of project reports, review, edit, and refine interim drafts of project reports, and review final drafts of project reports to ensure they are submission-ready;
- Work closely with the Washington-based and local USIP staff in Iraq on preparing and disseminating timely project-related, programmatic reports;
- Support the Program Officers and Program Specialists in creating a better visibility of the projects;
- Update program databases and documents as necessary to ensure the knowledge management of USIP’s Iraq projects;
- Work closely with the Iraq team to brainstorm new projects and to develop concept notes and strategic partnerships at the local level to engage different stakeholders;
- Pro-actively develop context and situational analysis;
- Make appointments, attend meetings, and take notes as needed;
- Support with local security updates, and maintain a high level of security awareness at all times; and
Perform other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in international relations or related field required;
- Two (2) years of related experience
- Excellent creative writing skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
- Demonstrated initiative and self-motivation in handling all assigned tasks;
- Advanced computer skills;
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines;
- Ability and willingness to travel to the field;
- Knowledge of the Middle East context is an asset;
- Ability to cope with changes in schedules, multiple priorities and deadlines.

Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
